Performer of the Week: Lowest Lanes

The wonderful trio, The Lowest Lanes consist of Kris Rochard, Mark McNeil and Meredith MacLeod.

Each one is a talented musician in their own right but together, they create magic with their great harmony vocals and amazing guitar/banjo/mandolin work. Their music is a great mix of roots, folk, and country.

According to their MySpace page, the band is currently working on their first CD. That should be a real treat.

Performer of the Week: Stinky and the Hot Rodz

If you like your music on the harder side, then Stinky and the Hot Rodz is the band for you.

The group's sound is hard edge rockabilly with elements of funk, country and more. What other band can do Johnny Cash, Men at Work, Metallica, and Soundgarden and make them sound like they were meant to be played together?

Performer of the Week: Rob Green

To be honest, there isn't much biographical information about Rob Green himself on his MySpace page (other than he hails from the Hammer).

His page lets the music do the talking as you'll find 8 amazing songs and three great videos.

Rob's style is wonderful sounding folk with incredible acoustic guitar work accompanied by expressive vocals.

New Barry Mac CD: Figment of My Mind

Don't let the Cowboy hat on the cover fool you. Barry Mac's new CD, Figment of My Mind, is far from your typical country album.

This singer/songwriter masterfully blends his country sound with flourishes of blues, folk, rock, and more. Standout tracks include Now You're Gone, Start Right Now, You and Me, and the extemely catchy I'm Not Looking For A Friend.

As if Mac's unique voice and talented guitar work weren't enough, he's joined by an incredible group of local players: Russ Wilson (Junkhouse) - who also co-produces, Mike Blackborow (Backroom 11), Midnight Jon, Jesse O'Brien, Joe Clark and the beautiful harmony vocals of JP Riemens, Lianne Cranfield and Lena Montecalvo.

You can pick up the CD at his shows.

Check out the videos below from his CD Release party at This Ain't Hollywood, featuring Mac and his One-Eyed Jacks: Mike Blackborow (guitar), Spider Costello (drums), Lena Montecalvo (harmony vocals), Pete Sisk (bass), and Greg Brisco (keys).

Carolyna's unique music has been heard around the world. She's played in an Australian rock band, drummed for the Wyrd Sisters, toured throughout Canada, recorded tracks in Seattle, and much more. Currently, she calls Hamilton home.

Her unique voice and amazing guitar skills have made her a welcome fixture in the local scene. This gal can be bluesy, rocking, tender, and everything in between.
