Mark Chewter, Early Member of the Forgotten Rebels, Passes

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Chewter, an early member of the legendary Hamilton Punk Band, the Forgotten Rebels on January 30, 2024. Our condolences to his family, friends and fans.

His obituary:
Our family sadly shares that Mark Edward Chewter, 72, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024, at St. Peter's Hospital. His sister, Michelle, was by his side. He joins his parents, Gordon and Marjorie (née Smith), and brothers, Brian and David. He will be dearly missed by his sister, Michelle (Tony), sister-in-law, Kim, five nieces, Sophie, Lauren, Marley, Erin, and Allison, as well as his six sweet great-nephews, and his close friend Ann.
Many friends visited with Mark in his final days, and our family felt the love. Mark enjoyed great discussions; being well read (with the book collection to prove it!), he was a fountain of interesting information.
He demonstrated lifelong passions for nature and music of all kinds. His talent as a guitarist (Forgotten Rebels, 1980-81) expressed the immense creativity of his spirit. Retired from his plastering career with C. Chewter & Son, Mark leaves a legacy of work completed in many of Hamilton's residences and historical buildings.
We wish to thank the wonderful staff at St. Peter's, especially Matthew and Chaplain Femke, for their kind words, gentle caring, and memorable hugs. Friends are invited to join us and share their memories at an informal reception on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Circle of Life Cremation and Burial Centre, 100 King St. E., Dundas, ON (additional parking at the Air Force Club). Memorial donations to the Royal Botanical Gardens and The Orchid Society. Private family interment. Cremation has taken place.

Sad to hear that my friend, Mark Chewter has passed away at St Peter’s hospice. Mark excelled at whatever he chose to  do whether it be growing orchids, cross country skiing, a highly skilled plasterer, a biker traversing North America or fine guitar player. May he rest in peace and condolences to his friends and family.

My Friend and past member of the Forgotten Rebels has passed away. Mark is the man on Guitar on the far left in this concert pic. May he Rest in Peace. Chris Houston told me last night and I am still shaken.

Though he never recorded with the Forgotten Rebels, Mark helped compose the song Memory Lane from the This Ain't Hollywood album
