Niagara's Rockin' Rich Dawson (of Rich and the Poor Boys) Passes

We are saddened to report that Rockin' Rich, the main man from Rich and the Poor Boys, recently passed away. Poor Boys bassist Jerry Salfi posted the following on Facebook: "I have just received word and it is my sad duty to report that Rockin Rich (Rich Dawson) has died of a heart attack in Thailand. As you can imagine this is a very sad and confusing time for everyone.  Our condolences to his family, friends and fans.

From the band's website: Rockin’ Rich is a harmonica player and singer who has performed in Niagara Falls and Toronto since the early 1970’s. Rich has had numerous radio, TV and movie appearances. His performance schedule has taken him from street dances to beer halls -stadiums and even to resorts on the beaches of Jamaica. Rich’s dynamic stage presence and unique vocals make him a highly sought after front man. His harmonica playing is intense and electrifying with ferocious power and big fat tone. His use of creative phrasings sets him apart from most harp slingers.

We will post further information as it becomes available.

On Saturday March 5, 2016 at 9pm, There'll be a celebration/open stage in honour of Rich at the Dunn Street Grill in Niagara Falls.

St. Catharines Group, Le Trio Parisien Will Transport You to Paris!

Can't afford to go to Paris?  Well you can get the next best thing by picking up C'est Ci Bon, the latest album from Le Trio Parisien ft Juliet Dunn.  This beautiful Jazz recording will transport you to a patio in a little European cafe.

St. Catharines chanteuse Juliet Dunn has a breathtaking voice that will melt your heart and get your toes tapping.   The lady can handle upbeat cabaret numbers and slinky, sultry torch songs (and all in French too!)

Joining her is Peter Shea (who teamed up with Juliet as (the Shea D Duo), Neva Tesolin, and Adrian Juras.  They handle multiple instruments and do an impeccable job with the European flavour of the sound.

If you're ready for a wonderful sonic trip, you can pick up a copy of the CD at their live shows and by download via
        cdbaby.

Kitchener's Stony Lonesome Capture Dynamic Show on Newest Live Album

Kitchener country group, Stony Lonesome do an incredible job of capturing an impressive, dynamic live show on their latest album.   Live at the House of Miracles (courtesy of Busted Flat Records) is an amazing document of their no-nonsense, fun, unpredictable performances.

The gang runs through their compelling originals brimming with honky tonks and broken hearts.  They also throw in a couple of interesting covers: The jazz standard Sunny Side of the Street and Maybe Tomorrow (The Littlest Hobo home).  Stoney Lonesome pack the tunes with top-notch playing, including some amazing pedal steel work.

You can pick up a copy of the CD at their live shows or via the Busted Flat online shop.
