Today (September 30, 2017) would have been jazz legend Buddy Rich's 100th birthday.

            The Adventures of Trebleclef the Music Loving Monkey

            Trebleclef's been a busy monkey!

            First, he attended the 10th Annual Brantford International Jazz Festival

            He also helped out with tickets and merch at the Trickbag/Smoke Wagon Blues Band show at the Corktown

            Finally, he went to the Grand River Blues Society's Road to Memphis Competition at Bobby O'Brien's in Kitchener and got to see who'll represent them at the International Blues Challenge.

            Gary Cain's group (from Kitchener) won the band competition
            Hamilton's Tim Gibbons won in the solo category

            GOOD LUCK! Local Toronto Independent Music Award Nominees!

            Nominations for the 2017 Toronto Independent Music Awards were recently revealed and, as always, a number of local artists are in the running! These include Brad Cheeseman (Hamilton)
            Tianna Woods (Burlington), Polarity (Oakville), Monty Greig (Acton), Girl Pow-R (Thorold), 
            The Natrolites (Niagara Falls), Benjamin Dakota Rogers (Brantford), Wes Mason (Rockwood), 
            Mikalyn Hay (Guelph) Jace Martin (Osweken) and Juneyt (Waterloo).

            We're keeping our fingers crossed that many of them will be winning at the ceremony on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Revival in Toronto.

            CONGRATS! 2017 Niagara Music Award Winners!


            The 10th Annual Niagara Music Awards took place on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Greg Frewin Theatre. For about a decade, this event has been celebrating the amazing music from the Hamilton regions.  This year's ceremony was no different.

            Dual winner included singer/songwriter Cory Cruise, country artist, and rockers the Natrolites.

            GOOD LUCK! Local Reps for 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis


            For the first time, the Hamilton Blues Lovers (along with their mascot, Trebleclef  were on hand to see the Grand River Blues Society pick their representatives for the 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.  Hopefully they will win during the January 2018 event.

            The GRBS judges chose their winner at a wonderful music event on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Bobby O'Brien's in Kitchener.

            Hamilton music legend, Tim Gibbons beat out Ajax's Ragwax to go to the prestigious contest to compete in the solo/duo category.

            There were 5 amazing groups vying for a trip to go to the competition: Gary Cain Band, Craig Dougan Band, Lonestar Cafe, Big D and The Topside Band, The Vaudevillian and the Outsider Band. In the end, Kitchener's Gary Cain Band won it.

            HBL and Trebleclef had an fabulous time at the local show and we have a lot of picture from the event. Please click here to see them.

            In other local news, former Hamiltonian Paul Langille and his music partner Tom Lockwood have been chosen to represent the Great Lakes Blues Society in the IBC (for the second year in a row).

            GOOD LUCK! Local Canadian Folk Music Award Nominees


            The Canadian Folk Music Awards recently unveiled the nominees for their 10th annual celebration and three talented, area musicians will be up for awards. Hopefully, a few of them will take home the hardware on November 19, 2017 at the ceremony in Ottawa.

            The Hidden Roots Collective (featuring Hamilton's Anni Sumi) is in the The New/Emerging Artist of the Year category. 


            Former Guelphite Stephen Fearing leads the pack of nominees with four nods (Solo Artists of the Year, English Songwriter of the Years, Contemporary Singer of the Year and Producer of the Year).

            CONGRATS! Local and Canadian Global Music Award Winners!


            The Global Music Awards are a prestigious international music competition and on September 2017, a number of Canadian artists won silver and bronze medals for their amazing work.

            In the local scene, Waterloo's JoJo Worthington earned a silver medal for her song Mid Youth Crisis

            GOOD LUCK! 2017 Niagara Music Award Nominees!


            On Sunday, September 24, 2017, the Niagara Music Awards will celebrate ten wonderful years of showcasing the amazing talent in the area.  This must see event takes place at Greg Frewin Theatre.

            This year's nominees were unveiled a little while back and, as always, they feature some of the most amazing music anywhere. Brad Battle, Mel Monaco and Mark James Vaiana lead the pack with 5 nominations each!
