Alfie Smith and Harrison Kennedy Going to International Blues Challenge

Looks like the Toronto Blues Society and the Canal Bank Shuffle Festival know there's stupendous talent in the Hammer. They have chosen our own Alfie Smith and Harrison Kennedy to represent their organizations at this year's International Blues Challenge (Jan. 20-23, 2010) in Memphis. Congratulations and good luck.

  1. Last year:

Racine was our blues rock band (musical director and vocals: Hugo Racine). We had great success.

This year, Thériault-Viel will participate to FEDEX International Showcase; last year, Racine did.
It is a very interesting event.

I have a blues society in Québec and for, the second year, we present artists at the IBC.

Le Relatant, société de blues, is member of the Blues Foundation since 2006. Could you announce our act?

    Duo Thériault-Viel

As a guitar and piano duo, Denis Viel and Claire "Lady Blues" Thériault show deep roots into the blues. Denis' unique eclectic fingerstyle blends seamlessly with Claire's supple Chicago touch to form an inspiring sound which is a staple in Québec city’s music scene. Their brilliant blues sensibility will be a welcome addition to the IBC, especially since they will be one of the rare, if not the only participants to represent Quebec's French-speaking community on this occasion.

    Thank you!
