It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Hamilton music legend, Fred Purser. He was best known for his work with the fabled local group. the Washingtons. He was the last member of the original band to pass. Our condolences to his family, friends and fans.

Here is a wonderful story the Spectator did on his passing.

If anyone knows of any performances with him online, please contact us at blueshamilton@gmail.com and we'll add it to this page.

Here are a few comments and photos from social media. We will add more if we can.

My first Hamilton music experience was hearing this great sound coming out of the Windsor on John Street, 18 years old, going in and enjoying Freddy Purser and the Washingtons! Sought them out many times over the years and hired them to play in my backyard.

  2. RIP. I had just looked Fred up out of curiosity and wasn't aware that he had passed away, having moved out of Hamilton. I have fond memories of our conversations about music over the years and have had the pleasure of seeing him perform. A true gentleman with a heart of gold.

  3. I was researching him and found he passed also. Jackie Washington is actually my great grandfather.
