Nominees for the 20th Canadian Folk Music Awards


From the press release:

In 2025, the CFMA will return to Ottawa/Gatineau, the birthplace of the Canadian Folk Music Awards. The 20th Anniversary of the CFMA will take place from April 3–6, 2025, with a grand gala and a series of bilingual concerts that highlight the diversity, creativity, and cultural significance of the Canadian folk music scene today. Each concert will also include several awards presentations. 

VIP Wristbands are now on sale via folkawards.ca at the early bird price of $125 (tax inclusive). The wristbands grant access to all four concerts as well as afterparty networking events, offering significant savings (Tickets to all four shows are valued at $148 + tax and ticket fees if purchased separately). 

Single tickets for each concert will be available for purchase in February 2025.

        GOOD LUCK! Inaugural Gilded Hammer Awards Nominees

        The Hamilton Fringe is pleased to present The Gilded Hammer Awards, the inaugural celebration of achievement in the Hamilton theatre arts. Hosted by Donna-Michelle St. Bernard, this fully accessible online event features The Gilded Hammers awards presentations, local artist performances, Scroll Down digital premiere funded by Canada Council for the Arts and community partners, and a community conversation hosted by theatre collective Femmepire. Tickets for The Gilded Hammer Awards ceremony on Saturday, November 21st are now on sale!

        The Cutting Edge: Innovation Award
        Recognizes the skills and achievements of a local artist or arts leader who has carved out new pathways for theatre in Hamilton. This award will have a $1,000 cash prize attached.
        The Groundbreaker: Emerging Artist Award
        The winner exhibits vision, sensitivity, and strength in the art form. Community impact and burgeoning creativity are given greater weight than polish. This award will have a $1,000 cash prize attached.
        The Force of Impact: National Achievement Award
        An artist from Hamilton who is making a name for themselves and for the city on the National stage and beyond. This award winner will have travel and accommodations paid for to attend the theatre showcase event.

        CONGRATS! 2016 HMA Gala Award Winners!


        On May 28, 2016, Bay City Music Hall was home to the first ever, Gala Awards (formerly the  Hamilton Music Industry Awards)  It was an incredible celebration of the behind the scenes work done for our local scene.  The legendary Ian Thomas did a wonderful, hilarious job as host!

        This site was nominated for Website/Online Publication of the Year. but lost to the amazing ihearthamilton.ca.

        The big winners of the the night were Monster Truck (5 awards), CFMU (4) and Lou Molinaro  (2 for him + 2 for his club, This Ain’t Hollywood)
