Cambridge's Jay Linden Releases Inviting Album Filled with Warmth

Ordinary Sunrise, the long-awaited new album from Cambridge's Jay Linden welcomes listeners in for a warm, interesting meditation on life. Through his signature wit and wonderful lyrics, Jay touches on many universal themes while still preserving the personal feel of the album. This is how classic folk music is supposed to be done!

Now that most of Ontario is in stage 3, live music will slowly be returning. James Anthony has quickly put his Saturday matinee (1:30-5pm) at the Uptown Social House in Burlington back in action. He will also be playing acoustic with a guest on Thursdays from 7 to 10.

Wainfleets' Suzie Vinnick is Electrified on New Album

Shake the Love Around, the latest album from Wainfleet's Suzie Vinnick, finds our heroine with a more electrified but still rootsy sound. While the quieter, beautiful numbers are here, Suzie and her cohorts prove they can unleash some unabashed, bluesy rock if the need arises.

You'll find some gospel, funk, folk, soul and more gracing this amazing album. The lady's voice and incredible storytelling permeate the recording with power and emotion. Her guitar and bass work also stand out.

She has enlisted quite a contingent of stunning musicians. The main core of the band includes Gary Craig (drums), Mark Lalama (multi-instrumental, producer, co-writer) and Johnny Johnson (sax). Guests include Colin Linden (guitar) and Kevin Breit (guitar) as well as background vocals by Dean McTaggart and David Leask (who also co-write). Steve Strongman, Matt Andersen, and Treasa Levasseur offer up their writing skills as well.

Hamilton Blues Legend Harrison Kennedy Goes All Out on 'This is From Here'

Steeltown music veteran Harrison Kennedy has kicked things up a notch with This Is From Here (thru Electro-Fi).  The legendary Bluesman and his electric backing band are highly energized and ready to rock.

You can hear him showing off the power of his vocals.  Harrison can really go all out and show the younger musicians how it's done.  When the man needs to be slow and soulful though, his pipes are more than up to the task.  While the music is still rooted in country Blues, the sound has been kick-started and revved up.

Joining Harrison on this dynamic album are the late, great Brian Griffith, Jesse O'Brien (who also co-produces), Colin Linden, Chris Caddell, Gary Craig, John Dymond, Terry Wilkins, and Nick Blagona.  Keeping up with Mr. Harrison can't be easy but these boys do an amazing job!
