Hamilton's Hanna Bech Debuts With Stunning, Hook-Laden EP!

There're more musical hooks in Naked Bones, the debut EP from Hamilton's Hanna Bech than in most full albums.   The lady really knows how to craft a pop folk song with beautiful lyrics.

This amazing recording kicks off infectiously and hypnotically then reaches a sonic crescendo with the powerful, Tidal Wave.  It's all finished with two delicate songs that serve as calming afterglow.

Hanna's stunning back up team includes Rachel Nolan, Jon Busuttil, Michel DeQuevedo, John Muller, Pamela Gardner, Alex Samaras, Geoff Ball and Caroline Olsen.  No matter what's thrown at them by this EP (Folk, jazz pop, classical, etc), they handle it with gusto.

If you're interested in a copy, check out her live shows and pick one up or you can download it using Bandcamp.

You Can Feel the Emotion on New Album from Brantford's Benjamin Dakota Rogers

Warm and inviting, Whisky and Pine, the new album from Brantford's Benjamin Dakota Rogers is as good as acoustic recordings get.  You can feel emotion in every flick of the string, every drawing of the bow and every turn of the phrase.

His unmistakable voice wraps itself around the beautiful lyrics, amazing harmonies and organic sounds.  You'll hear Celtic, Pop and traditional folk done in Benjamin's inimitable style.

This superb CD can be picked up at his live shows or purchases through cdbaby and iTunes.

Hamilton's The Vaudevillian Pack Tons of Energy and Spirit on New Album!

Hamilton/Kitchener group The Vaudevillian have a new lease on life thanks to their latest amazing album, Bringing Satan Down.  Not only is this their initial offering for Busted Flat Records - it's also the first as a trio.

The extra member hasn't dulled the edgy, pre-war Blues sound they're famous for.   As a matter of fact, their songs have more energy and spirit than before (which they weren't exactly lacking previously).  It's well-produced and recorded but still has and old-fashioned, raw vibe.

There are many ways to get your hands on this sweet album.  There's the Busted Flat Online Shop, Bandcamp and cdbaby.

Stan Rogers Chosen as 'Famous Hamiltonian of the Year'

Every George Hamilton Day (that's what the city of Hamilton calls its August Civic Holiday), a native son is chosen as the Famous Hamiltonian of the Year.  In 2016, the honour went to the late, legendary singer/songwriter, Stan Rogers.

To celebrate his life, the Hamilton Spectator held two sold out fundraising shows where many artists performed their favourite Stan Rogers tunes.  They were fitting tributes to the amazing legacy he left behind.
