New Fred Eaglesmith CD is Evocative and Gripping

There's nothing quite like a Fred Eaglesmith album. Fred's a master Americana storyteller whose voice echoes with feeling. His latest disc, Standard continues that tradition with a sparse, beautiful sound.

As always, Fred and the band mix traditional country music with a folk sensibility and fabulous lyrics. His voice is a little more prominent in the mix than usual and it's used to the fullest effect. The evocative, almost-rough vocals are gripping.

Fred's joined by his impressive, multi-instrumental wife, Tif GinnMatty Simpson (guitar), Justine Fischer (bass), Kori Heppner (drums), and Blue Passalacqua (vocals) also use their immense talents to lend a hand.

Make sure you get a copy of this superb CD.  You can pick one up at any of Fred's unforgettable shows. They're also available at iTunes and amazon.ca

Hamilton's Jesse O'Brien Plays on Incredible New Chris Antonik Album

Hamilton's Jesse O'Brien does a bang-up job tickling the ivories on Monarch, the latest powerful album from Toronto Bluesman Chris Antonik. They and the rest of the band have created a soulful, funky, rockin' Blues recording that'll get people hoppin'.

The music'll shake you up as Chris' voice hits you with its passion. This album is a moving experience both physically and  emotionally. It stands up to any Blues release out there.

Chris and Jesse are joined by Chuck Keeping (Big Wreck) on drums, bassist Guenther Kapelle (Wild T and the Spirit) and Samantha Martin and Delta Sugar (vocals). They're responsible for the energetic and full sound on Monarch.

You can pick up this uplifting disc at Chris' shows, through his online shop or download it using iTunes. You'll be glad you did.
