Mini-Review: I've you've had the pleasure of listening to the incredible local singer/songwriter Rob Lamothe, you know about his unforgettable voice and inspired songwriting. His recent album, Live at St. Pancras Old Church lays everything bare. With mainly his voice and an acoustic guitar, Rob's vocals and lyrics take centre stage and have room to breathe. His daughter Rose Lamothe also lends her equally unique voice to two tracks.

CONGRATS! Hamilton/Dunville's Rob Lamothe on Powerplay Magazine's Top Singers List

Former Hamiltonian and current Dunnville resident, Rob Lamothe got some well-deserved national recognition recently. UK rock mag Powerplay included the talented singer/songwriter him in their 'Top 50 Favourite Singers List' in the August 2021 issue. He was number 23. CONGRATS!

Here's what the magazine had to say: 

"As frontman for The Riverdogs, Rob was at the helm of one of the most overlooked debut albums in rock music history. I got to see The Riverdogs (long after the debut came and went) when they ventured over to the UK in support of their wonderful ‘Bone’ record, recalls Mike Gaffney.

Lamothe was in spectacular form that night (and every night I’ve seen him since), and his voice, rather than diminish, just gets better as the years go by. He has an extensive collection of solo records too, each of which is a must-listen (everyone should own a copy of his debut solo album ‘Gravity’)."

The Adventures of Trebleclef, the Hamilton Blues Lovers Monkey

Trebleclef had a ton of fun at the final Saturday Night Blues show of the season.  Ottawa's Wicked Grin once again had an amazing show! The wonderful Andre Bisson joined in the fun for a few numbers too!

New Brennagh Burns CD

Singer/Songwriter Brennagh Burns's latest CD is called Raw and that describes the marvellous music on this disc to a T. Most of the songs feature only vocals, acoustic guitar and a djembe drum. As a result, the sound is as honest and real as you get.

This stripped down affair works well as it helps bring out Brennagh's outstanding, expressive vocals. She also blends in great guitar work and talented songwriting.

Chad Brown joins her on the aforementioned djembe (with Zander Lamothe filling in on a track) and Rob Lamothe adds his electric guitar on one tune as well.

So if you like your music organic and authentic pick up the CD at Brennagh's live shows.

Lamothe and McIntyre on New Brennagh Burns EP: The Winter Project

Dunnville singer/songwriter Brennagh Burns has enlisted Hamilton's Rob Lamothe (guitar, producer), his son Zander (drums) and Mark McIntyre (bass) to play on her debut CD EP, the Winter Project.

The four-song collection features Brennagh's striking vocals and great songwriting. Instrumentality, the CD has a very modern alt-folk feel to it.

The disc is available at Brennagh's outstanding live performances. We'll be posting some footage of a recent show soon.

New Mary Simon CD + Release Party@This Ain't Hollywood (April 15, 2010)

In recent interviews, Hamilton singer/songwriter Mary Simon declared that her new sound is fun and upbeat. This is definitely evident in her new disc, No More Maybes.

While there are superb somber moments on the CD to balance things out (Curse, See You Fight, Goodbye), the overall vibe is energetic. Many songs are incredibly catchy (Come Love, Big Sore Heart) and rocking (All Night, the title track, Juliana). Mary and her gang find the perfect mix of pop, rock, and some folk.

There were many hands involved in the making of this cool album (her first in six years). Mary's joined by Andrew Aldrdige, David Gillis, Rob Lamothe, Greg Brisco, Mark McIntyre, Lisa Winn, Shelley Adams, and more.

Of course the new CD is available at her shows and website but it can also be downloaded through iTunes.
