Glenn Marais and the Mojo Train to Represent the GRBS at the 2024 International Blues Challenge
Glenn Marais and the Mojo Train won the honour of representing the Grand River Blues Society in the Memphis Blues Challenge. Click picture for more photos from the contest.
Stonewalls Restaurant in Hamilton was shaking like crazy on Sunday, April 30! That's 'cause the Grand River Blues Society held their International Blues Challenge band competition. 7 explosive bands vied for the right top represent the GRBS at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January 2024.
After a fierce musical fight, New Market's Glenn Marais and the Mojo Train earned the top spot. They'll be showing Memphis and the whole world what talent this area has to offer.
The competition for the solo/duo slot will be annonuced shortly.

Kitchener's Lynn Jackson Shows Many Sides on New Album
From a snarl to a roar, a purr and beyond, Kitchener songstress, Lynn Jackson can do it all. The talented lady shows us many sides on her latest incredible album, Lionheart from Busted Flat Records.
Here you'll find Lynn, the acoustic troubadour, the hard-edge punk princess, the jazzy chanteuse and many others all in one package. Her vocals leave a unique stamp on every track and beautifully played pianos, violins and more accentuate the songs.

CONGRATS! Waterloo's Rob Deyman (Waterstreet, Silvia Dee and the Boyfriend) Wins Mel Brown Award
On August 12, 2017 during the Kitchener Blues Fest, Waterloo's Rob Deyman (of Waterstreet Blues Band plus Silvia Dee and the Boyfriend) received this year's Mel Brown Award. The prize is named after the late, legendary Kitchener Bluesman. It's given to individuals who make a difference in the Blues community. Deymen is also the co-founder and recently retired Executive Director of that popular festival.
