Chasing Shadows, the newest EP from Hamilton's Will Gillespie, is not your average Folk recording. He can go fast and furious on some tunes and then switch gears to sweet, beautiful ballads. All the while, Will and the gang keeps a European flair in the background.
Elements of jazz, Americana, folk, world music and more intertwine to transport the listener to the country, the barroom and the ballroom. What a sweet trip it is!

Learning How to Let Go, his 2014 album, has more of a singer/songwriter, folky vibe. Will also gets a little funky and throws in quite a few catchy riffs.

Centered on Amber's silvery voice and her adept piano skills, songs blend facets of pop, folk, jazz, rock and more. Many instruments are thrown into the mix but they never overpower, creating a luxurious atmosphere.

Released in 2013, Dangerous Strangers and Darker Daysis a combination of her first official EP with two bonus tracks added. The recording is a little less arranged but still packs a ton of catchy pop riffs and emotion packed vocals. Joining Amber this time are David Partridge, Mark Thomson, Cory Latkovich (L-Con). If Jekyll and Hyde needed a soundtrack, HMEP1, the new FREE recording by Hamilton's Haolin Munk would be a great choice. The band can play amazing, traditional, funky jazz with the best of them. They can also burst into some unique, crazy improvs. Both sides of the musical coin blend well.
Listeners will be pleasantly surprised but what you hear from these instrumentals. You'll never know when frenetic, wonderful noise will break out. Hip Hop beats pop in occasionally too. It's no wonder is got a nod for Best Jazz in the 2015 Hamilton Music Awards.

Theatre Aquariuswas abuzz on May 29, 2014 when the 2014 City of Hamilton Arts Awardswere handed out.It was an amazing celebration of the best art Hammertown had to offer.
Local singer/songwriters Lori Yates and Mimi Shawwon in the music categories: Lori for Established Artist and Mimi for Emerging Artist.
Teacher/musician/marketer Astrid Hepnerwon for Established Arts Administration. Music student/organizer Dejehan Hamilton took home the Emerging Arts Administration award.
Music instructors also dominated the Arts Education categories with Emma Rush (Established) and Sarah Lawrence (Emerging) winning that night.

The singer/songwriter uses electronic beeps, percussive sounds, acoustic guitar and a few other odd bits to create a genre-defying experience that will blow your mind. This CD is definitely for those who aren't afraid to try something new and different.
