Beloved Hamilton Blues legend Jackie Washington passed at the age of 89 at Joseph’s Hospital at 1:22pm on Saturday, June 27, 2009 with family and friends by his side. The cause of death was complications from a heart attack.
He was an inspiration to generations of musicians and a Canadian treasure.

On the Monday, June 29, 2009 edition of the Hamilton Spectator,Jackie Washington received the recognition he deserved. His life and career was the front page story.
I've never known anyone who had more of a positive outlook on life and so genuinely loved being around people. He was a pleasure to spend time with and he was a treasure of information about the jazz world and local history. We all learned by his example and our lives were enriched by his musicianship.
The world seemed a little brighter with Jackie Washington in it. Your music and the joy you brought to so many people will always live on. I feel lucky to have known you. Rest in peace my friend.
I am devastated, I just found out that the great Jackie Washington of Hamilton Ontario died yesterday. My heart goes out to the Washington Family. I was deeply moved by Jackie's music and he influenced my music for the better. Thanks Jackie and God bless you.!!!!!!!!
There were some tears but also a lot of music, fun and laughter at the tribute.Jackie Washington Rotary Park was packed with friends, family and fans remembering the life of this late, great Hamiltonian. Trains tooted as they passed the park, reminding everyone of Jackie's fascination with locomotives.
Local politician, and radio personality Bob Bratina hosted as poems were read, songs were sung, and stories were told.
Close friend and former manager, Bill Powell spoke of how Jackie's live music helped bring a woman out of catatonic state at a retirement home.
Organizers from various Ontario festivals spoke of the dedication the legend had to their events.
Poet and co-writer of Jackie's biography, James Strecker, read a poem he wrote in memory of his friend. Poet Holmes Hook also followed suit.
Jackie's frequent musical partners, Mose Scarlett (now deceased) and Ken Whiteley played amazing songs as did many other performers.
The evening ended with a big jam session of When the Saints Go Marching In. The performers marched into the crowd as people grabbed tambourines, harmonicas and kazoos to join in. A great sendoff for a wonderful man whose laughter and music brightened many people's lives.
Among the attendees were former Ontario Lieutenant Governor Lincoln Alexander, whom the Spectator quoted saying that there would never be another like him again.
In the article, former manager Bill Powell spoke about how Jackie turned down a lucrative deal opening for Harry Belafonte because it would take him away from his family.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Hamilton drummer Cliff Goodwin. Unfortunately, we don't know the details of his death put will post on this page when we know more. Our condolences to his family, friends and fans.
Very sad to hear about the passing of Cliff Goodwin . You sure will be missed around the Hamilton music scene. I remember some 20 plus years ago he pinched hit for us at the last minute for a New Year's Eve gig at "The Happy Hog" in Tottenham Ontario, saving our butts. He was always damn good company. RIP

Bradley George Edward Hill, 28 FEBRUARY, 1957 – 15 APRIL, 2022
Passed away at home on April 15, 2022 after a heroic battle with cancer. Brad is now reunited with his father George, mother Gwen and brother Barry. He will be greatly missed by his children Matthew, Shannon and Amber (Matt), grandchildren Hazel and Scarlett, partner Mary Ann and her daughter Heather (Liam). Brad was truly a kind and generous man, loved by all who have met him. He was a passionate member of the Hamilton music community since the 60's, playing in countless bands over the years. Brad was also a past master of the Hugh Murray Masonic Lodge and found great joy in the charity work that his lodge performed over the years. Brad has touched the hearts of so many, and the world will miss his shining light. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Thursday, April 21st from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A service to celebrate Brad's life will be held on Friday, April 22nd at 1pm in the chapel. Interment to follow at Hamilton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Mental Health Association are appreciated. Due to COVID, there will be no reception at this time.

It is with a heavy heart I must announce the passing of my father (Brad Hill) on the early morning of April 15th
He had a long battle with pancreatic cancer and fought strong until the end, the whole time never complaing or losing faith.
Our relationship together over the years became a truly close friendship. We have played countless hours of music together over the years and his passing will leave behind a wealth of memories. I feel so blessed to have had the father I did and to have spent the amount of quality time together.
It is difficult for me to put into words, about Brad Hill's passing. I can say that he was a wonderful human being, and also, an amazing musician, partner, and father.
Tony, Brad, Dee and I, we all played together, hung out together, and those times are my best memories. This last year, in particular, Brad showed us how strong he was. So many setbacks for him, and he never complained at all.
Brad always had these sayings, that would make you laugh. At the end of the gig "Straight home guys, ok?" Or "The pleasure is all yours".
When I would ask if he could do a gig, he would never say no, he always used to say "Sure, I just wanna play, man". And he did. He played right up until he could not.
It is with much tears and sadness that my pal, Brad Hill passed away today. Brad had played with me on several gigs and he was just a great friend and great musician. R.I.P Brad.
Such sad news about my band mate Brad Hill he was alway positive and a great musician. I played in two bands with Brad and many jams. My condolences to his family and Mary Ann Chamberlain. RIP my brother.
