CONGRATS! 2016 City of St. Catharines Arts Award Winners


On Saturday June 4, 2016 the 2016 City of St. Catharines Arts Awards ceremony was held to great fanfare.  It celebrated the beauty of the Garden City's creative force at the Cairns Recital Hall, in the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.

CONGRATS! 2016 The City of Hamilton Arts Award Winners!


The Hammer celebrated their creative arts culture (including the local music scene) at The 2016 City of Hamilton Arts Awards, held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at The Scottish Rite Club.  Area jazz songstress Diana Panton took home the Music, Established prize while Troy Witherow of the electronic band Illitry won the Music, Emerging award.

                        GOOD LUCK! Vote for Your Favourite Local Finalist in the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase (Deadline June 24!)


                        Every year, the Boots and Hearts Music Festival (in Oro-Medonte, Ontario) holds an Emerging Artist Showcase before their event. Two talented local country artists were chosen as finalists. You can help them out by voting for them. Deadline is June 24, 2016. Click here to vote.

                        Oakville's Vanessa Marie Carter and Niagara's Ryan Langdon are up for the honour.

                        Two winners will compete at the popular country festival in August where judges will determine the winner.  The grand prize includes an opportunity to enter into a recording contract with Universal Music Canada and much more.

                        CONGRATS! Local Country Music Association of Ontario Award Winners!


                        A number of locals brought home Country Music Association of Ontario Awards on May 29, 2016 at the kickin' ceremony hosted by  Edward Village Hotel in Markham.

                        Hamilton country station KX 94.7 FM took home Radio Station of the Year (Major Market) for the second year in a row! Burlington's Tebey won for Single of the Year, thanks to his incredible tune, When the Buzz Wears Off. Record Producer of the Year, Jason Barry was another repeat winner.  He produces the Waterloo group The Western Swing Authority.

                        The big winners of the night were Jason Blaine and Cold Creek County, who won 3 awards each.

                        CONGRATS! Sim Bansal, the 1st Recipient of the Brian Lee Griffith Bursary!


                        Hamilton's Sim Bansal (also of the band Sleepless) won $5,000 as the first recipient of the Brian Lee Griffith Bursary.  He recently graced the stage at Bay City Music Hall for the second annual Life of Brian benefit for the fund.

                        The bursary, named in honour of the late Hamilton guitarist Brian Griffith was set up to benefit up-and-coming guitarists.  Click here to donate.

                                                        CONGRATS! Erin McCallum Receives 1st BluesSource/Blues Blast Album of the Year Award!


                                                        It's Time, the latest recording from Toronto area Blueswoman, Erin McCallum has received the very first award from Hamilton's BluesSource/BluesBlast (Album of the Year - 2015).  The talented lady recently gave explosive performance at Jet Hall (Hamilton) and the Golden Pheasant (St. Catharines).  It was at the latter show that Blues Blast host (and BluesSource head honcho) Ken Wallis handed her the well-deserved trophy himself!.

                                                        "Erin McCallum’s voice could fill Rome’s Coliseum, " Ken remarked.

                                                        Hamilton Bluesmaster Jack de Keyzer produced the amazing CD!
