GOOD LUCK! Local 2017 Canadian Country Music Association Award Nominations


This year's Canadian Country Music Award Association Award nominees were recently announced and it once again boasted a number of area musicians in the mix.

St. Catharines country boy, Tim Hicks can't seem to stop being nominated and winning awards and he's continued on here.  Tim's up for 3 categories (Male Artist of the Year, Interactive Artist or Group of the Year and Recording Package of the Year)

Cambridge songstress, Shae Dupuy is running against Tim for Interactive Artist or Group of the Year as well. Also from that city is Rich DaSilva (Drummer of the Year).

The Waterloo area is also teeming with nominees thanks to Shane Guse (Fiddle Player of the Year, Special Instrument Player of the Year) and Jimmy Boudreau (Drummer of the Year). Both are from the group, Western Swing Authority . Barrytone Studios (also from the Waterloo region) received a nod for Recording Studio of the Year.

Brett Kissel, Dean Brody and the James Barker Band lead the pack with 6 nominations each.

We'll be keeping our fingers crossed for them on September 10, 2017 during the awards ceremony at the SaskTel Centre.

    CONGRATS! Shane Guse and Ed Ringwald of Waterloo's WSA Win Canadian Country Music Awards!


    September 11, 2016 was a big night for the Waterloo group, Western Swing Authority as band members Shane Guse and Ed “Pee Wee Charles” Ringwald won Canadian Country Music Awards at a wonderful ceremony in London, Ontario.

    Shane took home two awards, one for Fiddle Player of the Year and won the Special Instrument Player of the Year for his mandolin work. Ed received top Steel Guitar Player of the Year honours.  Because Ed now has five wins in a single category, he will be inducted into the All-Star Band Hall of Honour.

    Alberta country boy Brett Kissel was the big winner this year with 5 awards. Other multiple winners include Dean Brody (3), Invictus Entertainment Group (3), Washboard Union (2) and Gord Bamford (2).

      GOOD LUCK! Western Swing Authority and Tim Hicks Rack Up CCMA Award Nominations!


      Waterloo band, Western Swing Authority and St. Catharines' Tim Hicks are once again up for some Canadian Country Music Association Award Nominations in 2016.  WSA is up for Roots Artist of the Year and the band members are also nominated for a few too (Drummer, Fiddler, Specialty Instrument and Steel Guitar).  Tim's running for Interactive Artist of the Year plus his drummer and bassists received nods in their instrument categories as well.

        CONGRATS! St. Catharines Country Boy Tim Hicks on Best of 2015 Lists


        At about this time, there are usually tons of Year's Best Lists coming out.  The Canadian Country Music community is no exception and St. Catharines Country Boy Tim Hicks has graced quite a few of them.  The talented singer/songwriter's been racking up the accolades lately and now he's got even more to celebrate.

        Canadian website, TopCountry.ca unveiled their year end lists and Tim's on two of them (Albums and Singles).

        CONGRATS! Ed Ringwald of Western Swing Authority and KX 94.7FM Bring Canadian Country Music Awards Home


        On September 13, 2015, there was a little local flavour to the Canadian Country Music Awards.  Ed (Peewee Charles) Ringwald of Waterloo's Western Swing Authority took home the trophy for Best Steel Guitar and Hamilton Radio station KX 94.7 FM won for Best Large Market Station.

        The big winner of the night was Alberta's Gord Bamford who received hardware for Male Artist, Songwriter and Single of the Year.

        GOOD LUCK! Local Artists Continue to Earn Nominations for the Canadian Country Music Awards


        Once again, quite a number of talented area performers have been nominated for Canadian Country Music Awards.

        St. Catharines boy Tim Hicks has been (justifiably) raking in the awards and nomination for a while now and he continues to do so.  Last time, he even won the Rising Star award.  Now, he's up for Male Artist, Album, Interactive Artist plus his album 5:01 is in the running for Album Design and Producer.

        Burlington singer/songwriter, Tebey also has quite a bit of an awards collection himself and he's hoping to expand it.  This year, he's been nominated for Producer of the Year.

        Waterloo's Western Swing Authority and their members were nominated in 2014 and they repeat the honour in 2015.  The band will be vying for the Roots Artist category. WSA players Ed (Peewee Charles) Ringwald and Shane Guse are up for a few as well: Ed for Steel Guitar and Shane for both Fiddle and Special Instrument.  Both won last year as well.

        Also from Waterloo, Jason Barry, a multiple CCMA winner, has been nominated for Guitar of the Year.

        Kitchener session player Scott Galloway has received the nod for Best Keyboards too.
