46th Annual Blues Music Award Winners including Canada's Sue Foley

On May 8, 2026, The Blues Foundation announced the winners of their 46th Annual Blues Music Awards winners in Memphis, Tennessee. The only Canadian artist to win was Ottawa's Sue Foley, who is signed to Waterdown's Stony Plain Records.

Winners of the 2024 Blues Blast Awards Including Local & Canadian Artists


The winners of the 2024 Blues Blast Awards were announced in the magazine's September 2024 issue. Burlington's Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne earn another in his long list of accolades. Canadians Sue Foley (who's signed to Waterdown's Stony Plain Records) and the Blackburn Brothers also got come much-deserved recognition.

    Sue Foley (artist signed to Waterdown's Stony Plain Records) Earns 2023 Blues Music Award + Full Winners List

    Sue Foley, an Ottawa Blueswoman signed to Waterdown's Stony Plain Records was the only Canadian to take home a Blues Music Award (specifically The Koko Taylor Award) at the ceremony on May 11, 2023in Memphis.

    This was her reaction on Facebook:

    Thank you to The Blues Foundation and to blues fans everywhere for your continued love and support. I am proud to be known as a traditional blues artist, and any way I can have my name associated with the great Koko Taylor is good for me.

    GOOD LUCK! The Late, Legendary Mel Brown's DVD Up for Living Blues Award! You Can Vote!


    It's very rare for local musicians to be nominated for the Living Blues Awards but this year, the late, legendary Kitchener Bluesman, Mel Brown is up for Best Blues DVD of 2015 for the documentary Love Lost and Found.

    Also, Harmonica Shah, whose last few albums featured Hamilton guitar slinger Jack de Keyzer recieved a nod for Most Outstanding Musician (Harmonica).

    Hamilton's Harrison Kennedy Adds Extra Soul to Eric Bibb's 'Blues People'


    Blues superstar Eric Bibb's latest project, Blues People, is more than just a sensational album.  It's a brilliant tribute to the great Dr. Martin Luther King and a historical document of Black History.  This Stony Plain Records release chronicles the struggles of race relations throughout the years.

    Eric mobilizes a who's who of the current blues community for this marvelous musical manifesto.  Hamilton Blues Legend Harrison Kennedy teams up with him and Ruthie Foster for the funky, soulful Dream Catchers.  The song is inspiring, powerful and uplifting.

    The rest of the guest list is equally impressive: Taj Mahal, Blind Boys of Alabama, Popa Chubby, Guy Davis, JJ Milteau, Glenn Scott, Linda Tillery, Andre De Lange, and Leyla McCalla.

    Packed with some of the best acoustic folk blues, moving soul and incredible world music around, the album is a wondrous musical feast.  You can tell all those involved wanted the message to be heard.
