Caroline Wiles' vocals will blow you away as soon as you hear them on her latest album, Lover's Lane.  The Ancaster singer/songwriter has a rich, awe-inspiring voice with incredible range.

TREBLECLEF COMING TO A THEATRE NEAR YOU!

Although they'll always have a passion for music blogging, the Hamilton Blues Lovers have now set their sights on a new challenge: movie production. These ambitious plans include Trebleclef, their beloved monkey mascot.

We caught up with HBL CEO Lou at one of his many mansions, where we asked him about how it all started.

“I was sailing in my yacht, hanging with Steven Spielberg”, he explained humbly. When Lou introduced him to Trebleclef, the famous director was immediately enamored with his acting skills.

"Steven begged him to star in his films," he added, "but being a loyal little monkey, he checked with me first. That's when the idea popped into my head. I decided to use my vast wealth to start my own movie production company with Treble as my main star. His acting range is so incredible that I started the ball rolling on all types of films: sci-fi, action, drama and even romance.”

Lou also decided to use this project as a way to cast people involved in the local music scene in many important parts. Dave Rave, Wendell Ferguson, Donna Panchezak (of Trickbag), Kevin Barber, and Tomi Swick have all signed on.

If anyone else is interested, please contact April Fulcilli, the personnel manager at HBL Movie Productions. They share an office with Luigi’s Sauerkraut Warehouse on Main Street East.

In an exclusive scoop, we have the movie posters for the soon-to-be-Oscar-winning movie masterpieces.

'Cosmic Cowboy' by Niagara-on-the-Lake's Steve Goldberger Features an Astounding Mix of Styles

Niagara-on-the-Lake singer and multi-instrumentalist  Steve Goldberger, has always mastered a range of styles (he leads the Americana/Roots band Old Winos and Blues/Soul outfit The Niagara Rhythm Section).  His 6th album, Cosmic Cowboy, shows him at his best.

Steve and a number of his talented musical friends have put together an astounding mix of covers (including fabulous versions of Rodney Crowell and Nanci Griffith tunes) and unique originals.   Folk, Bluegrass, Country, Cajun, Roots and everything in-between are all performed with gusto.

There's no shortage of accomplished musicians on this disc.  Vocal duets with Tim Hicks, Serena Pryne and Mary Simon (Mississippi Bends) are a major highlight.  Steve's also joined by Denis Keldie, Mark Lalama, Wendell Ferguson, Andrew Aldridge, Cam MacInnes, Roger Marin, Mike Glatt, Steve Grisbrook, Shane Guse (Western Swing Authority), Jeese Cobb, Jim Casson, Dave Norris, Andrew MacKay and Peter Griffin.

If you want a copy of this amazing CD you can order one at Steve's live shows or through his online shop.  It can also be downloaded via iTunes, cdbaby or eMusic.

Susan Wylde's Simply Complex an Epic Collection of Many Styles

Local singer/songwriter Susan Wylde never gets complacent on her latest disc, Simply Complex.  Each song has its own unique personality and she adds extraordinary spirit to every single one.

This is truly a roots (with emphasis on the plural) album as Susan explores every vein: Blues, Jazz, Country and so forth.  The intermingling of styles makes this an epic collection of hard stompin' tunes and tender, soulful melodies.

Simply Complex also features some incredible guitar work from the late, great, Brian Griffith.  His masterful playing adds some extra beauty to a project that already boasts a ton of it.

This album is packed with other incredible guests such as Wendell Ferguson, Jack deKeyzer, Pete Schmidt, Carrie Ashworth, Mark Cashion, Alec Fraser, John Dustin, Dave McMorrow, Rick Donaldson, Bob Siboney, Colleen Allen, Turner King, Dave Dunlop, Jerome Godboo, Paul Reddick, and Shelley Hines.

You can download this must-have collection through cdbaby or iTunes.
